Pregnancy usually lasts for about 40 weeks and it is divided into three stages: first trimester, second trimester and third trimester.

Among these three stages, second trimester is the one with least discomfort.

In the first trimester, morning sickness, frequent urination can cause a lot of discomfort for many pregnant women.

In the last trimester, edema, dizziness or faint are among the discomfort that pregnant women will experience.

Pregnancy is not about discomfort and how to handle them, it is also about excitement. When the baby makes the first kick, it gives a lot of joy to the family. This usually occurs in the week 16 to week 21. To feel it or see it, you need to lie down in a quiet environment.

constipation in children

Parents start to worry when their children do not defecate for more than one day as it usually implies other problem. 

Drinking insufficient water is probably the most important cause of constipation. This can cause the poop to be very dry. 

Insufficient fiber in the diet, lack of exercise and training as well psychological factor can all cause constipation. Chinese medicine will like to attribute it to inner heat in the body.

To prevent constipation, first way to try is to train your child to poop at a fixed time such as morning. Once the habit is established, the defection reflex will be formed and this can help the children to defecate at a fixed time every day. 

Second method is to encourage your child to drink enough water. Some parents apply honey on the nipple in order to encourage their children to drink water. You can also try it out.

Parents can also encourage children to have more veggie in their diet. This is because the fiber in the veggie can promote bowel movement which can then prevent constipation.

Cramp During pregnancy

Cramp During PregnancyMany pregnant women will experience cramping during pregnancy and this is usually a big concern for the pregnant women and her family members. It may happen in early pregnancy stage and it can also occur in the third trimester when the pregnant is preparing for delivery. In many cases, cramping or abdominal pain will need medical attention immediately while some occasional cramping is just normal during pregnancy.

In the following cases, the pregnant women should seek doctor's help as soon as possible.

1. Cramping associated with spotting or light bleed in the vaginal discharge during early pregnancy

2. CONSTANT or SEVERE CRAMP  in early stage of pregnancy. 

3. Cramping associated with discomfort while urinating. 

4. Cramping associated with fever or chill, dizziness or faintness.

5. In third trimester, cramping associated with an increase in vaginal discharge or a change in the type of vaginal discharge like it become bloody. This can be a sign of preterm labor.

6. Cramping with vaginal spotting or bleeding in third trimester. This can be a sign of preterm labor as well.

7. Cramping associated with contractions that come at least four times in an hour. This is also a sign of preterm labor.

When to take Pregnancy test

A commonly searched question in internet is when to take pregnancy test, this is because very few women has the courage to ask her mother about when to take pregnancy test, especially those of younger age or those that are not wed.

So what is the best timing for pregnancy test? The answer is to carry out the pregnancy test one week after the due date of the menstruation.

It is quite normal for menstruation to be delayed due to stress, illness, medication or prolonged exercises. Out of the many factors mentioned here is the stress.

Some people also like to ask when to take the pregnancy test after unprotective sex. Some people are so nervous about pregnancy that they carry out the pregnancy test one day after the unproctive test. Result is confirmed negative. This is because it takes time the sperm to meet the egg and then the human body to produce enough HCG to be detected by the test kit. All these will take more than 2 days. Hence, it will be just a waste of money to carry out the test one day after the unproctive sex.

Again, couple should wait at least one week after unprotective sex to confirm pregnancy.

When to start potty training?

One of the frequently asked questions about parenting 1 to 2 year old children is that when the parents can start to train their children in the use of toilet.

This is because not only this is the basic skill, but also can help parent to save money on diaper which can cost more than 60 cents.

Our procedure is like this:

Our first child is able to communicate in Chinese when he is about 16 months old, so from then we start to instruct him to inform us if he needs to poo.

We keep on telling him about this for one month. After one month, he is able to tell us when to use toilet for “bian bian”. In between, he will forget some of the times, but of course, we never scold him.

About two months later, he is also able to tell us when he needs to urinate. Of course, this helps to save one or two diape a day.

Now he is 3 years old. Because he still has the habit of drinking milk before sleep, so he still needs to wear a diaper at night. He also needs to take a nap in the afternoon in school, so far he does not need the diaper.

He specializes in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and has 23 years of experience.

Most of the feedback we have learnt is good except for the very high price he charged. But there is also feedback about his attitude.

Yio Chu Kang is located next to Ang Mo Kio, with many private houses. For this, there are about 3 child care centres in this area.

The three child care centres are RAFFLES KIDZ @ YIO CHU KANG PTE. LTD., CAMBRIDGE CDC @ YIO CHU KANG PTE. LTD., and SUNFLOWER KINDERHUB LLP.

SUNFLOWER KINDERHUB LLP charges about $950 for full day child care, while RAFFLES KIDZ @ YIO CHU KANG PTE. LTD. charges $1050.

Five of these child care centres are My First Skool and the rest includes 3 PCF child care centres and MY WORLD PRESCHOOL LTD,ECOKIDD CHILDCARE PRIVATE LIMITED,GENIUS SCHOOL HOUSE,BRIGHT KIDS SCHOOL HOUSE PTE LTD,FAITH EDUCARE CENTRE and THE LITTLE SKOOL-HOUSE INTERNATIONAL PTE LTD.  

Cost of enrolling a child for full day child care program is likely to be less than 1000 in this area. Maybe this is because the branded child care centre has not planned to build their name in this area.
